Itazura na Kiss 01-25/25 + extras


Yeah, I'll be doing this. It won't be done quickly though, because it has a shitload of hardsubbed signs in every episode which have to be redone. Got the typeset scripts from m33w, thank you guys!

The HDTV version from BakaWolf-m.3.3.w is bitrate starved to death (140Mb for 720p? WTF?!), therefore DVD version has way better video and audio quality. See the screen comparisons. Also, it looks like the animation got somewhat an upgrade in the DVD release, as demonstrated in the second screen comparison.

      Hi kaishakunin,

      The DDL links on Anime Tosho are are mostly dead for the early episodes. For Eps 1-6 only RapidShare works. But it works very poorly (can take 7+ hours to download a single ep.). The torrents for the early episodes aren't any better. Episode 2's torrent is a broken link (but can be found on nyaa).

      One suggestion is to do what SaHa does, which makes life significantly easier for your link maintenance and helps peers getting files, no matter when they were released. He used to have a better write up, here's the page now http://sahadou.com/?page_id=207 .

      The gist is to only make batch torrents. Each time a new episode is released, create the new torrent as a batch of all its episodes. The key is to make sure to never change the directory or existing file names, just keep making new torrents with all the files. (As long as they are in the same place, and the names are the same, then there will be no duplication on the peer's disk.)

      Also, not sure you're aware, several of your files can be found on Rizon.net in several channels that carry the A|FanserviceBot bot (#doki, #retrofit, probably several others). Hopefully they uploaded with your permission, if they didn't, I hope you don't mind, as it's been very helpful getting Itazura na Kiss. I don't know who owns that bot. Here are the commands to list what the bot has and to download all of Itazura na Kiss in order that the bot currently has (eps 7-11).

      /MSG A|FanserviceBot XDCC SEND 1
      /MSG A|FanserviceBot XDCC batch 22,61,2805,2807,2974

      I'm currently seeding all 11 eps, but ep 6 is stuck at 90% (RapidShare keeps breaking).

      I have my own bot J-G|XDCC, you can find it on #jumonji-giri, #news and #nibl. It carries everything I've released so far and is the easiest way to get the incomplete shows. For complete shows, bakabt is another good option.

      Making batches the SaHa way also has some drawbacks, because multi-file torrents won't be automatically picked by the alternative distribution services, such as A|FanserviceBot and animetosho. This is why I prefer to make individual torrents even when I release multiple episodes in one go.

      I'm wondering if I should give kaishakunin m.3.3.w's typeset .ass files and fonts... ONLY if he does 8 bit (you can also do 10 bit if you want, but 8 bit is desired)... Since they're still on the FTP.......

      Gosh, will all those signs... That's sure make his workload a bit lighter w/ this.

      I don't see why the morons who are on the hardware decoding only bandwagon would be more likely to redownload this. Rather, I'd think us 10-bit quality whores would be more interested in a high quality DVD rip.

      And kaishakunin, you could probably just ask m.3.3.w for the typeset scripts.

      Not sure who that fuckwit is, but he or she doesn't represent m33w. I'd be more than happy to give you the typeset ass files if you want them. ThaEagle always does an awesome job w/ typesetting.

      I /personally/ prefer 8 bit over 10 bit, but that's just because my computer is old and ornery and likes 8 bit better, but I can close stuff and watch 10 bit, as well, so..... It'd be nice to have a choice in which to download, but since you're the one doing it, it's up to you. ^__^

      It's not just people with older computers who desire 8-bit, plenty of people with killer-spec rigs know about hardware and prefer it over the old way of letting the CPU and software handle everything. 10-bit is just popular mostly because it can make gradients look ok even if the encoder is lazy or not very good, and it also happens to look better on desktop systems that may have a killer video card for 3D gaming, but it sucks at video.

      I don't think bribery is the answer, but the whole 10-bit thing is getting pretty unreasonable. It's great that the fansub community embraces new tech, but mainstream adoption is still years away, and not even next-gen computer hardware can decode 10-bit video. Even so, 10-bit encodes as an option are great for those that want them or prefer them. For everyone else in the present, 8-bit is the standard and will be so for the foreseeable future.

    Besides, if people really want hardware compatibility, there's always m33w's XviD TV release, which is at fairly standard 175 MB / ~800 kbps levels.

    Does 8 bit or 10 bit really make that big of a performance difference with 480p? I can understand the complaints with 1080p and possibly 720p for the really old PCs. I assume hardware players are capable of playing .h264 using software. I've never owned a hardware player so I don't know (too lazy to google and see if they can lol). Anyways, thanks for doing this. I would have never thought that this would have ever be a polishing candidate.

      I've been following this show since you started releasing it (above comment is mine) and I'm a little sad that you're getting out Yakitate so quickly and this so slowly in comparison. I suppose that's the difference between a show you're passionate about and one you're just doing, isn't it?

      I appreciate your hard work either way (yes, I'm dling the Yakitate releases too!) and I'm glad you're still resubbing the DVDs. I'll be looking forward to downloading the rest of them when you get the chance :)

    Thanks, I snagged them and only down side is the scan line at the top or sometimes at the bottom of the episodes. Just ruins the quality it needs, thanks for finishing this up non the less. I would like someone to do Skip Beat though, it needs some decent subs for it's DVD version then the one at BakaBT..
