Canvas 2 03-04/24

Here are the next two episodes of Canvas 2.

I hope you enjoy this show as much as I do.

You might notice blended frames in some scenes of episode 3, like it wasn't IVTC'd, while other scenes in the same episode are completely okay. I would've thought this is the problem of the raws, but the same effect is present in all encodes (KTXP, SumiSora, two WMV9 versions from PD, and even in the original Lunar TV rips and in the other TV rips I got from share). It would be interesting to look at the actual DVD, but most probably this is something that can't be cured.

  2. Just saw this linked from TT. SumiSora seems to have better video quality than KTXP which look over-sharpened/line darkened/processed. You can see in KTXP's video that some lines look a lot more prominent than others which didn't get picked up by the filter properly.
Anyways, regardless, these still look better than the TV rips, but +1 for SumiSora.

  3. If I ever get the DVDs for this show, I will do a v2, otherwise I'll stick with KTXP.

I guess the better version depends on how tolerable you are to over-sharpening (and related artifacts) and how tolerable you are to over-blurring (and related loss of detail). SumiSora rips are far from perfect too; there's a direct comparison a few posts back, compare the amount of stars on the first two screens - since extra stars couldn't be added by sharpening, that can only mean SumiSora blurred them away. I don't like that.

But since this is a softsub release, it's always possible to do a remux using whatever raws you like, including the ones that might appear in future.

  4. Rather than blurred, probably bitrate starved. Personally, I don't prefer blurry video, just whichever I believe is closer to the source/less filtered.

In any case, thanks for the work.

  6. just thought id mention...instead of timing to the video in aegis and having to recode it...just time to the audio only...demux the audio and load that...once u load the subs back to the video ..they should be perfect...aegis is really bad with timing to video
