Translators needed

If anyone with Japanese knowledge wants to translate 4 episodes of Hani Hani: Operation Sanctuary, please let me know. Since this show does not have any softsub release, this could be one of the next project. I have some raws, however, the problem is that DVD contains 4 episodes that were never fansubbed (ep 9.5, 10.5, 11.5, 12.5).

  1. Huh, I never knew HaniHani had extra fractional DVD episodes like Wind ~A Breath of Heart~. If you can post DDL links for the raws, I can take a look at them and try to TL them at some point.

What group's subs would you be using? SS? Ayu? Dual-release like W Wish? If you only use one, I suggest SS, as Ayu's editing left a lot to be desited.

  2. Zalis, it'd be really great if you could do that! Here's the raws on MegaUpload:

    Episode 9.5
    Episode 10.5
    Episode 11.5
    Episode 12.5

About the groups, my intention was to include all available subs. The most tedious process is timing - once I get the timings for one subtitle track, adding alternative translations is not really a big deal. But thanks for the suggestion, it will help to decide which one to make the default :)

  3. Thanks, I'll DL them and see what I can do. I might not get to them for a few weeks, though.

On the timing, have you tried transcribing with non-English subs such as these? They're often based on the timings from English fansubs. I've had success with this method:

    1) In Aegisub, duplicate all the Russian lines.
    2) Clear all the Russian text from the duplicate lines.
    3) Change the styling of the Russian subs to be at the top of the screen.
    4) Load the video from the hardsubbed TV-rip.
    5) Go to the blank lines, type the English, delete the Russian when finished. (Shift all the times forward a few tenths of a second if the Russian subs appear sooner than the English hardsubs, shift back when done.)

It's a lot faster than watching the TV-rips in real-time and typing in the lines. You may have to make some timing adjustments, but it still beats timing everything from scratch. It's especially useful for multicolored subs like afk's Full Moon or Static's subs for anything, since those can't be OCRed with SubRip.
