This place is reserved for another one-man group dedicated to re-releasing old anime with softsubs and better video quality. The original fansub groups will receive credits inside the episode and in file names.
The Rules:
1. DVD rips only. BD rips are also possible, but no TV rips.
2. Softsubs only. Existing translations from fansub groups will be re-typed and re-timed.
3. MKV container.
4. Main focus is on older anime series that do not have proper softsub releases.
I will not do OP/ED karaoke because I do not see the point. (If someone else wants to do it for me I can include it though.)

Retrofit (http://www.retrofit-anime.com) is already doing Sister Princess RePure. 7 episodes already available.

ReplyDeleteAll songs will be subtitled in English and Romanji, if they were subtitled in the source fansubs. Just without karaoke effects.
ReplyDeleteGood to hear. I should've looked at the Sister Princess ~Repure~ post more closely, that would've answered the question. It's just that some people use "karaoke" to mean song subs in general, whether they have effects or not.
ReplyDeleteThe comment about Retrofit was marked as spam and I did not notice it - sorry! The main difference is that this release has the complete episodes (25min), while theirs only includes the main story (15min). Also, they use WMV9 raws, while this release uses x264 raws (this does not necessarily mean that the quality is better - one needs to make a comparison to tell that).
ReplyDeleteIf Retrofit were at the current stage when I started this, I could make use of their softsubs for the main story, or maybe I would not start this project at all. But the thing is that I actually started this work in June, back then they only had 3 episodes released and appeared stalled. So, I decided to complete this anyway as an alternative release.
If I could just say something real quick, Retrofit is doing the character portratis, but in separate files. That's why they're the 15 minute episode lengths since the portraits themselves are in separate parts of the DVD's. I took on the project so I can see to it that it does get done as the last guy who was working on bailed after 3 episodes. That's really the gist of it when I took on the project.
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from you, TwinShadow. That is good to know; then the only differences will be the codec, font styles and the absence of SRT track in my version. But I'm going to finish this anyway, cause it's kind of late to stop. If my timings for the character stories or for the last episodes may be of some use to you, feel free to grab them (I can post ASS files separately if you like).
ReplyDeleteBTW what about Kanon 2002? I see you have 3 eps - if you (or Taskforce) are intending to resume it in the foreseeable future then I'll postpone it.
You're welcome to finish, taskforce doesn't necessarily care when I made a mention. I think he may have the portraits relatively done already, not sure actually as he'll be doing that half.
ReplyDeleteFar as Kanon 2002 goes, I mostly just QC it if needed, otherwise its all him. He hopes to get a bit more out soon, but he did recently get some new toys, so it may be a bit longer than expected. XD Though if the need arises, I'll see what he has done currently and maybe finish the rest of it myself to ease the work for him and give me more to do with my time.

ReplyDeleteIt would be nice of you could Akagi or Kaiji because they are hardsubbed and I would like to translate them in another language. They were subbed by Triad.
